About the Project
City Hall is one of London’s most architecturally distinctive landmarks, situated on the South Bank of the River Thames with Tower Bridge as its backdrop. The building’s iconic curved glass facade, designed by Foster + Partners, is one of the most recognisable in the capital, and maintaining it requires specialist access expertise and a contractor trusted to work on one of London’s highest-profile public buildings.
All Clean London has held a contract with London City Hall since 2009, providing facade and window cleaning to keep the building’s striking exterior in immaculate condition year-round.
The Challenge
City Hall’s curved, multi-angled glass facade presents one of the more demanding access challenges in central London. The geometry of the building means standard cleaning methods are insufficient, reaching the full extent of the glazing requires specialist elevated equipment that can manoeuvre precisely around the building’s distinctive shape. The prominent riverside location also means work is always carried out in full public view, with no margin for anything less than a professional, well-managed operation.
The Solution
All Clean London deployed a specialist cherry picker (MEWP) to carry out facade and window cleaning across City Hall’s curved exterior. The cherry picker’s articulating boom allows our operatives to reach and clean the building’s complex glazed sections precisely and safely, without the need for scaffolding or any interference with the surrounding public space.
All work is carried out in line with City Hall’s operational requirements and our full health and safety protocols, including risk assessments, method statements, and public liability documentation as standard.
The Result
All Clean London has maintained City Hall’s iconic facade since 2009, delivering consistent, high-quality cleaning on one of the most visible and recognisable buildings in London. The contract is a demonstration of our ability to handle architecturally complex, high-profile buildings in central London with the expertise and professionalism they demand.
