Case Study

Design District

About the Project

Design District is a creative workspace quarter on Greenwich Peninsula, developed by Knight Dragon and made up of 16 low-rise buildings designed independently by eight different architectural practices, including SelgasCano, 6a Architects, Adam Khan Architects, and David Kohn Architects.

Spanning 230,000 sq ft, the district provides affordable studios, workspace, and amenities for creative industries, with a striking mix of facade materials across the site, including Terrazzo, CorTen steel, polycarbonate, ETFE, and corrugated aluminium cladding.

Located moments from North Greenwich station and the O2, Design District has become one of the most architecturally distinctive commercial destinations on the Peninsula.

All Clean London maintains all buildings across Design District on a six-monthly cleaning programme.

The Challenge

With 16 buildings designed independently by eight different architects, Design District has no single, repeatable facade type.

Materials range from glass curtain walling to Terrazzo, CorTen steel, polycarbonate, and corrugated cladding, each with its own cleaning requirements and sensitivities.

Covering external windows and cladding consistently across such an architecturally varied site, while keeping disruption to the districtโ€™s working studios, galleries, and public squares to a minimum, calls for a flexible approach and a team that can adapt its method building by building.

The Solution

All Clean London cleans Design Districtโ€™s external windows and cladding using water-fed pole systems, reaching upper-storey glazing from ground or elevated level without the need for scaffolding or disruptive access equipment across the siteโ€™s low-rise buildings.

This approach suits the districtโ€™s pedestrianised courtyards and public squares, allowing the team to move methodically between buildings on the six-monthly programme without disrupting tenants or visitors.

Full risk assessments and method statements are provided for every visit.

The Result

All Clean Londonโ€™s six-monthly water-fed pole programme keeps Design Districtโ€™s windows and cladding looking clean and well presented across all 16 buildings, supporting the creative, design-led identity that defines one of Greenwich Peninsulaโ€™s most distinctive developments.
